Sunroom and Screen Room Frame Extrusions

Custom Extruded Profiles for Sunrooms, Screenrooms, Conservatories and Verandas

We extrude the aluminum sections that hold a glazed enclosure together: main beams, columns, rafters, integrated gutters, glazing beads, base tracks and connector stock. Every profile we produce starts as your drawing, whether that means a complete system with thirty unique sections or a single beam you have been unable to source. We do not keep a catalog of stock shapes, because the cross-section that suits a compact patio enclosure in a mild climate is rarely the one that will carry a five-meter glazed roof holding 120 kg/m² of snow.

Instead, the die is built around your span, your glass weight and your local building code. What we bring is direct experience of the parts that cause trouble on site: beams that deflect more than they should, gutters that overflow at the outlet, thermal breaks that separate after a few seasons, and frames where the rafters arrive in a visibly different shade from the columns.

A Sunroom Is a System, Not a Pile of Bars

Rectangular tube bought off the shelf can be bolted into something that looks like a veranda. A proper enclosure uses purpose-designed extrusions, each of which performs one job well. We extrude the full set so that the sections fit each other and match in finish.

Main beams: ridge and cross beams

These carry the roof. The cross-section has to resist bending under glass and snow load, so the moment of inertia is sized to your span rather than guessed. Web depth, flange width and wall thickness all move together to reach the required stiffness without adding dead weight to the columns below.

Rafters and sloped roof bars

Rafters support the glass directly. Their top face carries a flat glazing platform and a groove for the bead, and where a shade track is required it can be extruded into the underside of the die rather than added as a separate part. Rafter spacing and the glazing platform width are set from your glass thickness and fixing detail.

Front and rear columns

Rear columns usually sit against a wall, so a half-profile is often the right answer and saves both weight and cost. Front columns are freestanding and take the full roof load plus wind pressure. Both can be produced within the same system so the visual language of the frame stays consistent around the enclosure.

Integrated gutter and drainage

The lowest rafter or a dedicated gutter section catches the runoff. We extrude the correct fall into the profile and form a drip nose so water does not track back along the soffit to the wall. Drainage outlets are pre-machined to your positions, which removes a wet-trade operation from the installation sequence.

Glazing beads, base tracks and connectors

Snap-in or screw-fixed beads hold the glass in the rafter and column grooves. The clipping leg is held to ±0.15 mm, because a loose bead lets the glass rattle and an oversized one makes the installer's day miserable. Base tracks anchor the frame to deck or concrete, and connector stock lets you join sections cleanly where a single length will not reach.

Alloy, Thermal Break and Finish

Structural sections are extruded in 6063-T6 for the higher yield strength that spans and snow loads demand, while non-structural trims and beads are produced in 6063-T5. Where the enclosure is heated or the climate swings between seasons, a polyamide thermal barrier with a crimped bridge interrupts the path between the inner and outer faces and reduces condensation on the frame.

Powder coating is our standard finish. PVDF and anodizing are available where the project calls for them. The point that matters most on a sunroom is color consistency across the set: rafters, columns, gutter and beads are finished as one batch so that no part of the frame reads as a different color in daylight.

Tolerance, Fabrication and Delivery

Profiles are supplied to GB/T 5237 high-precision tolerances, with critical glazing and assembly dimensions controlled at the die rather than corrected afterwards. Standard length is 6.0 meters, and cutting, punching, tapping, milling and outlet machining can all be carried out before shipment. Packaging is shrink film for protection in transit. Minimum order quantity is 500 kg per profile, which lets a small system of a few sections travel in the same container as a full set.

What to Send for a Quotation

  • Cross-section drawings and the required alloy and temper for each section
  • Roof span, rafter spacing and the design snow and wind loads
  • Glass build-up and thickness so the glazing platform and bead groove are sized correctly
  • Finish type, color reference and whether the section is exposed to coastal air
  • Quantity per section, plus any cutting, punching or outlet machining required

Send the drawing set and we will review manufacturability, flag any section that will not extrude cleanly, and quote from there.

Technical FAQ

Can you extrude a complete sunroom system rather than individual bars? add
Yes. A full frame set is our normal way of working: main beams, rafters, front and rear columns, integrated gutter, glazing beads, base tracks and connector stock are all extruded from your drawings as one package. Because the sections are designed and finished together, they fit each other and match in color, and the whole set ships in one batch instead of arriving from several suppliers with slightly different shades and tolerances.
How do you decide the cross-section for a given roof span? add
The die is sized around your span, glass weight and local building code rather than chosen from a fixed catalog. We work from the required moment of inertia, then set web depth, flange width and wall thickness to reach the stiffness the roof needs while keeping dead load off the columns. Rafter spacing, glazing platform width and bead groove follow from your glass thickness and fixing detail.
Do you supply thermal break sections for sunrooms and verandas? add
Yes. Where an enclosure is heated, or where the local climate swings strongly between seasons, we produce profiles with a polyamide thermal barrier and a crimped bridge. The barrier interrupts the conductive path between the inner and outer faces of the frame, which reduces heat loss and keeps the inner surface above the dew point so condensation does not run down the frame in winter.
What information do you need to quote a custom sunroom profile? add
Send cross-section drawings, the alloy and temper required for each section, roof span and rafter spacing, design snow and wind loads, and the glass build-up. Tell us the finish type and color reference, whether the frame is exposed to coastal air, the quantity per section and any cutting, punching or drainage outlet machining. From that set we review manufacturability and quote.

Why engineers buy this profile from us

  • Die design in-house. Our tooling engineers balance metal flow before the first billet is pressed, which keeps wall thickness and straightness repeatable order after order.
  • One partner for finishing. Extrusion, anodizing, coating, machining and assembly happen on one site, so tolerances are not lost between suppliers.
  • Documentation that clears customs and auditors. Composition, mechanical properties, dimensional and coating reports ship with the goods.
  • Stable supply. 100,000 tonnes of annual capacity and 26 presses mean your schedule is not hostage to a single line.
