Marine aluminium extrusion supplier is one of the emerging areas of aluminum products as well as a key direction to which many Chinese aluminum profile manufacturers transform and upgrade. Because it is used for marine fields, the marine aluminum profile has more stringent process requirements and performance standards than other aluminum profiles used in other daily field.

 

As follow, there are four principles on the selection of Marine aluminum profile.

First, it should have high specific strength and specific modulus. 

The structural strength and size of the ship are closely related to the yield strength and elastic modulus of the material. As the elastic modulus and density of the aluminum profile are nearly the same and the addition of the alloying element also has little effect, a certain amount of the yield strength increase can reduce the stress of ship structure. Usually, the high-strength aluminum profiles are often difficult to both have excellent corrosion resistance and weldability. Therefore, marine aluminum profile is generally medium-strength, corrosion resistant and weldable.

Second, it should have excellent welding performance. 

At present, the automatic argon arc welding method is mainly used in the ships. And the good weldability means that the welding cracks appear less in welding the aluminum profile, that is to say, the aluminum profile has a good welding crack resistance. The requirement of good welding crack resistance is because the shipbuilding conditions can not be processed with re-heat treatment to restore the loss of welding performance.

Third, it should have excellent corrosion resistance.

The ship structure is used in severe sea water and marine environments, so the corrosion resistance is one of the main signs of marine profiles.

Fourth, it should have a good cold-and-hot forming performance. 

Because the ship manufactures include kinds of cold and hot process, the marine aluminum profile must be easy to shape without produce crack defects, and meet the strength and corrosion resistance requirements after processing.

The marine aluminum profile has strict type selection. The currently common types are 5083, 5086, 5454, 5754, 6061, etc. 

In practical applications, the marine aluminum profile has outstanding advantages:

Firstly, due to the small specific gravity, it can reduce the ship heavy to save energy consumption and increase the load; 

Secondly, due to its good corrosion resistance, it can reduce the oiling cost to extend the service life;

Thirdly, due to its excellent forming performance in welding and processing, it is conducive to post-processing; 

Fourthly, due to its aluminum waste easy to recover, it can be recycled,

Finally, due to hard burning in the air, it is fire-safety.
