How to repair the aluminum extrusion die? Generally speaking, die repairing requires: right analysis and judgment, and reasonable adjustment of metal flow rate.

The main processes of the aluminum extrusion die repairing include: adjusting the proportion of the metal flow distribution (such as: the size of the diversion port or diversion slot, the depth of the electro-erosion drainage tank, etc.), the contact friction coefficient, and the length of work belt at the die holes to change the metal outflow rate at the die hole, so that the metal evenly flow out from the die hole to produce qualified aluminum extrusion products. Therefore, the repairman must master the relevant inspection techniques so that he can correctly analyze and judge the causes of defects in the product, so as to carry out effective die repairing.

The proportion of metal supply distribution is mainly determined by the die designer and manufacturer. When the die is manufactured, the metal distribution ratio is basically fixed. Designers must be strict with the reasonable distribution. The unreasonable distribution will cause uneven metal flow rates at the various parts of the profile, which makes difficult die repairing, or even worse, make die repairing impossible.

For most dies, although the amount of metal has been determined, the friction between the metal and the die can be changed so as to achieve the purpose of adjusting the metal flow rate. The friction between the metal and the die consists of three parts: the contact friction between the metal and the die surface, the friction between the die and the working belt, and the friction of the relative movement between the metal and the metal. To improve the metal and die surface friction conditions is one of ways to adjust the metal flow velocity.

The adjustment of metal distribution, friction conditions, length of the working belt and extrusion velocity can achieve the adjustment of the outflow metal rate at the die hole. Die repairing mainly focuses on adjusting the proportion of metal distribution, contact friction conditions and the length of the work hole to make the metal flow evenly out from the die hole so as to produce qualified aluminum profiles.

In order to deal with the defects caused by the uneven flow of metal, we must study how to make the same metal outflow rate at all part of sections of the profile, which is the basic principle of die design, and the basic principles of die repairmen. Although there are many factors that affect the velocity of the metal outflow at die hole, it can be summed up as two basic factors:

a. whether the metal distribution flow for each part of the profile section is suitable, that is, the ratio of the cross-sectional area of ​​each part should be equal to the ratio of the metal flow rates of the corresponding supply part;

b. The size of the friction resistance when the metal flows, the greater the amount of metal supply in a part of the profile, the faster the outflow at this part of the die hole, and conversely, the less, the slower it is.
