MACHINABILITY
6061 offers significantly better machinability compared to 6063. Its higher hardness leads to cleaner chips and smoother finishes during high-speed milling. 6063, being softer, can sometimes "gum up" tools if not handled with precision parameters, making it less ideal for complex CNC work.
CORROSION RESISTANCE
Both alloys exhibit exceptional resistance to atmospheric corrosion. However, 6063 is often preferred for anodizing. The reduced magnesium content in 6063 results in a more uniform oxide layer, providing a premium visual finish that is highly sought after in consumer electronics and architectural façades.
